As Snoopy says, "It was a dark and stormy night..." ... and by 10pm, the hostel was completely emptied for the first time in 6 months. Adam and I were the only souls creeping around - Mind you, we were fully booked, everyone was just OUT and in their cups. As midnight approached, Adam and I crawled onto the roof of the hostel with our cups of sparkling grape juice (thanks mom) and champagne, and watched a 360-degree panorama skyline of fireworks, while a warm, stormy wind whipped hair and clothes in every direction. We knew when midnight struck by the thunderous uproar of explosions that pounded the brooding night air relentlessly for minutes on end.
It was a wild, windy, wet and utterly magical way to welcome the new year.
